Rancho Santa Fe, CA

This home walks a fine line between contemporary and classic architecture. The covenants for this community demand a Mediterranean style, but the owners were decidedly contemporary in their preference. The result is a house that meets the exterior guidelines, but interprets the rules in the cleanest, most straightforward manner.  Of course, on the inside, contemporary prevails, as well as on the rear patios which are unseen by neighbors.

The curved wall of glass in the great room is bounded outside by a curved lap pool with infinity edge. The terrace railings are glass to afford an uninterupted view of the Pacific ocean in the distance. The site is on the edge of a cliff that is perfect for watching adventurers waft by from a nearby gliderport.
